Make Your Own
Traditional skills brought to life
In my workshop, you’re surrounded by the smell of tanned leather and the sound of brass fittings being hammered by hand. Everything I make takes time. Call me old-fashioned, but I get excited about the old way of doing things, the time-honoured skills of precision and quality. To me, craftsmanship and skills matter and I believe in teaching and hanging on to them as much as we can.
Craftmanship from your own kitchen table
So many people wrongly believe that they aren’t creative. Well, I teach leather workshops and have seen firsthand that just isn’t true. In a throwaway world, making something with your hands gives a sense of pure satisfaction. As you labour and work with the materials, something beautiful comes alive. It’s a feeling like nothing else and something you shouldn’t have to come to my workshop to experience (although you’d be very welcome). I want you to know the joy of traditional leather craftsmanship from your very own kitchen table.
Make your own leather goods
It’s for these reasons that I’ve created a range of make-it-yourself leather kits. You bring the hammer and scissors and the kit will provide absolutely everything else you’ll need to make your own leather goods. There are easy-to-follow instructions on how to do traditional saddle stitch along with practice pieces of leather. There’s also a full step by step video tutorial to walk you through the construction. It’s just as if I was there with you, working alongside you, to craft something brilliant together with our own hands.
